Hello Bicol ! Volume 1

This is my first time to write a blog and post something which, I hope would be worth reading. Haha! So here it goes…

Last May of this year, I was able to visit a remarkable place here in the Philippines. This is my first time to go to Bicol – it is located on Luzon Region – Region 4B of the Philippines.

So, we booked a flight via Cebu Pacific which only costs like 2,500 pesos for a round-trip flight. This is quite a bargain for me and my friends. The flight took only like around 1 hour from Manila to Albay. We make sure not to waste time to this trip so from the airport of Albay we head straight to the hotel-like-inn that we just checked online and able to get two rooms for ourselves. Afterwhich, we took our breakfast somewhere near our place – I think thats a fastfood chain nearby.

This is the inn we had stayed for 2 days. And yeah I must admit the place is cozy and clean. Also, people are all accommodating. – Captured the moment of my friends.

So, for the day 1 agenda. We went to caves and hills. For our itinerary, I just checked some articles that I sort out for references that we used for this travel. You can search on the internet some articles thats shows what places to go on Albay for some adventures.

First stop, the Hoyop-hoyopan Cave. Here you can see marvelous rock forms inside. – The stalagmite and stalactite formations inside the cave which gives different forms and illusions that would really amaze you.

Here is one of the rock formation inside of the cave. Pretty cool, right?

After our tour inside the cave, we head straight to a chocolate-hill-like mountain just near the cave. It looks like a chocolate hills of Bohol from the top but a smaller version. Haha!

There are 3-small peaks for this mountain. Climbing this mountain has a difficulty of 2/9 but since we arrived around 12noon. Its really hot on top and we have to go on hurry since we don’t want to burn out. Tho, there is a small nipa hut on the first peak where you can rest for awhile if you dont want to go on to the top. But, since we are here for adventure and to see the beautiful nature. We did go to the top and thats the photo I have below:

How refreshing seeing is this? 😃

We are on the half of our trip for this day. After the cave tour and the mountain climb. Need to refresh a bit, had our lunch in a small house at the bottom of the mountain, there was a small sari-sari store who sells home-cooked lunch. People in this place are very friendly and accommodating! 🙂

Before the day ends, we went on a waterfalls. It was a superb experience, where you have to ride a ‘balsa’ to be able to go to a waterfalls inside the cave. The trip is short but fun since you are able to experience this kind of ride. (I personally enjoyed it – it’s my first time to ride a balsa). Oh, mind you that the balsa is huge which can accommodate around 20-30 persons and is manually pulled by a kuya.

Reaching the end of the Balsa-ride was a strong current of water which you can’t actually enjoyed. Since the water is too deep and if you are not a swimmer. Then it’s a no-no to you. So , we just enjoyed then the other side if the cave where you can swim since the water is calm and there are few people around. It is like a lake inside the cave.

A perfect day to end our 1st day of trip here in Bicol. From caves, to mountains and to end, a refreshing time to swim on a clear and clean water. It was indeed a superb day 1 experience. Check out for my volume 2 of my – Hello Bicol experience!
